As an experienced Career/Life Transition Coach I know that the years between 50 and 75 represent a myriad of new opportunities. My firm belief is that this time of maturity, once relegated to "winding down" or to retirement, now has the potential to be among the most fruitful, productive and passionate of one's life. Today people in mid-life will live 20-30 years longer than generations past. Many are asking the question: "What will I do with the rest of my life"? According to a recent study by the Vanguard Center for Retirement Research, the conventional view of retirement working full-time until a set date and then shifting to full-time leisure does not match the experience of many older Americans. Successful transition to retirement is often a gradual and varied process that blends work and relaxation. This new research, which is based on a survey of 2,500 Americans ages 40 to 69, describes several distinct paths to retirement. Many Americans actually retire much earlier than expected. Others retire from full-time work but immediately plunge into a part-time job or self-employment. Still others continue to work into their late 60s and early 70s. What path will you choose? You may not have the answer yet. But thanks to my work with dozens of people who are anticipating retirement or beginning to think about "what's next," I've learned that the key to a meaningful "third age" is careful thought and preparation. If you agree that retirement as we've known it is passé, are a life-long learner, and have a desire to make your life count in a deeply fulfilling way, then it's time to take the first step towards creating the next chapter of your life. I will help you explore the possibilities that this stage of life holds for you. Contact me by phone or email to arrange a complimentary consultation.
